Arezzo, 8 June 2025 – Two hundred in the saddle on the streets of Valdichiana for the eleventh edition of La Chianina Ciclostorica. The event, now in its eleventh edition, has renewed an appointment of attraction for enthusiasts from all over Italy who have stopped in Marciano della Chiana to pedal together, share the common passion for two wheels and relive the charm of vintage cycling among dirt roads, villages, Leopoldine and authentic flavors of local tradition.
The heart of La Chianina was represented, once again, by the real historical cycling event that offered participants a route through the territories of Monte San Savino, Lucignano and Castiglion Fiorentino, with a stop at the Brolio farm for a refreshment dedicated to flavors. This ride favored a slow and sustainable discovery of the valley's riches by historical cycling enthusiasts who, on vintage bicycles and with colorful wool jerseys, contributed to creating a unique atmosphere made of sport, conviviality and friendship. The start of the historical cycling event was preceded by a real celebration of historical cycling through an intense weekend of initiatives spread across the different corners of Marciano della Chiana with food stands, vintage markets, theatrical readings, art exhibitions, music in the square and itineraries to discover local history together with the Scannagallo association.
Among the most characteristic moments was La Chianina dei Bambini with a creative workshop, a ride through the alleys of Marciano and a rich snack to allow even the little ones to experience the emotions of the historic cycle race and to convey the value of the bicycle as a tool for being together, having fun and getting to know a territory. The ninth edition of the national humorous graphics competition Chianina Comics dedicated to the theme "Women and the bicycle" renewed a creative event attended by artists from every area of the peninsula which saw the victory of Luca Ricciarelli from Florence. Finally, the "Alberto Roggi - Il bolide di Vitiano" award was given to Rinaldo Nocentini who, with a career studded with sixteen successes as a professional and eight stages in the yellow jersey at the 2009 Tour de France, has contributed to the growth of Italian cycling and to bringing prestige to the territory. "A heartfelt thanks - comments Maria De Palma, mayor of Marciano della Chiana, - goes to the president Roberto Apolloni and to the entire board of the association: their work has been extraordinary, not only in the organization of La Chianina Ciclostorica, but also in the ability to build an event that has been able to speak to the hearts of people. This event is much more than a historical cycle: it is a collective story of identity, territory and community, and has now become a concrete tool for promoting tourism and culture for Marciano. At a time when small villages risk being marginalized, initiatives like this demonstrate that a different model of development can start right here: made of relationships, participation, quality of life. The path is mapped out. As an administration we will continue to support and promote events that are not just entertainment, but that build a sense of belonging and vision. The summer in Marciano will be full of events, but our goal goes beyond the calendar: we want to strengthen a community that grows together, step by step".
