Verzegnis-Sella Chianzutan, it's a victory for Caruso and Zardo

Predictions respected at the 54th edition of the Verzegnis-Sella Chianzutan. The winners of the Carnic hill climb were the favourites on the eve and the best of the trials, namely Franco Caruso and Denny Zardo: the two were the fastest in the classification reserved respectively for modern cars (103 at the finish line) and historic cars (28). The first, on a Nova Proto Np01, won both heats of the race, setting an overall time of 5'02''33; the second, on board a Giada T118, also signed the best time in both passages, closing the effort in 5'45''54. They were thus the ones who entered their name in the roll of honor of the race, organized by Asd E4Run and valid for the Italian Mountain Speed Championship North Zone (CIVM, sixth stage), for the Triveneto Irs Cup trophy (third round) and for the Friuli Venezia Giulia Championship.
Behind Caruso, also winner of the E2 SC-SS 3000 class, Federico Liber took the top spot, completing the two climbs in 5'05''98 on a Norma M20 Fc. Giuseppe Vacca (Nova Proto Np01) closed the podium, stopping the clock at 5'07''63. Among the regional drivers, the fastest was Luca Giammattei from Trieste (Gloria C8F), seventh overall and first in the TMSC-SS group in 5'33''60. Also among the local drivers, second place in the rally car group went to the home driver in Carnia Matteo Bearzi, who rode a Skoda Fabia in 6'23''45 (21st overall). Second place in the NS group went to Nicola Crivellari (Peugeot 106 Rallye, first in the 1600 class with 7'04''74).
Valentina Boi (Renault Clio Rs) won among the women, finishing the two heats of the race in 7'37''29. A success that she shared with her husband Fabrizio Martinis, who was also the fastest in the Rally C class with the Lancia Ypsilon (6'43''68). The livery of the car with which the driver from Cordenons raced was special. On the side and on the hood was written "Ciao Tato", a greeting that Martinis usually addressed to Matteo Doretto, the 21-year-old driver from Pordenone who he was a "tutor" for, who recently passed away in Poland during a test prior to his participation in the Rajd Polski). By the way, the under 25 trophy, named in memory of the young driver from Friuli, was won by Tiziano Ghirardo (Honda Civic), who came in first in the 1600 class of the E1 group. The cup was presented by Martinis: a touching moment, accompanied by a long round of applause.
Among the historic cars, behind Zardo, also first in the Fourth Group, were the Austrian Harald Mossler (Daren Mk3), second in 6'35''13 and winner of the First Group, as well as the Friulian from Cividale Rino Muradore (Ford Escort), third in 6'38''57 and winner of the Second Group. The reigning champion of the race Michele Massaro (Bmw M3 E30) finished fourth, at the foot of the podium, stopping the clock at 6'39''19. Among the Friulians at the start, it is worth mentioning the performance of Paolo Deotto (Ford Sierra Rs Cosworth), who was the fastest in the J1 class of the Fourth Group with a time of 6'59''11. He also took sixth place overall.
