Water Polo, Prato's Cordovani in blue against Spain

And among the athletes called up for the Spanish trip there was also Sara Cordovani, now (for the moment, if nothing else) the only player from Prato called by the technical commissioner Carlo Silipo to defend the colors of Italy. The hosts prevailed in the Catalan test match, winning 11-9. But Silipo can still draw positive indications both from Cordovani's performance and from the collective performance of the new group that had already been put to the test recently on the occasion of the "Super Final" of the World Cup. The "Young Italy" had come sixth in China, but if they had not met Greece in the quarterfinals, who went on to win the event, things would perhaps have gone even better. History is not made with “ifs” and “buts” and the defeat on penalties in the “final” for fifth-sixth place against Australia confirms the competitiveness of the group. Cordovani, born in 2001, is also doing well with Pallanuoto Trieste, with which she came close to winning the Euro Cup a few weeks ago. She is practically certain of a place in the Water Polo World Championships that will begin in Singapore on July 11 (and end on July 24). And she too dreams of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, ideally taking over from her fellow citizens and friends Chiara Tabani and Giuditta Galardi.
