In search of new land, in Brazil memory of Italian emigration

After the success of the Cruise of the Roots, held last December on board the Costa Tiara on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Italian emigration in Brazil, the project "Em busca de nova" continues land", promoted by the Emigration Museum of the State of São Paulo and from the MEI - National Museum of Italian Emigration. The project aims to enhance the historical memory of Italian emigration and the deep cultural bond between Italy and Brazil, through a series of exhibitions that will be set up in three symbolic stages: from 5 to 27 June in San Paolo (yesterday the inauguration), from 4th to 27th July in Espirito Santo and from 1st to 24th August in Poços de Caldas. Among the proposed exhibitions the most significant are the one dedicated to 'Giuseppe Garibaldi and Anita Ribeiro da Silva: between Brazil and Italy', curated by the Casa America ETS Foundation and of the National Association of Garibaldi Veterans and Returnees. "A veranda over Brazil", created by Hospedaria dos Imigrantes - Museum of Immigration of São Paulo and MEI - National Museum of the Italian Emigration of Genoa and "Italian Participation in the history of the Brazilian labor and trade union movement", curated by the Italy-Brazil Friendship Association and by Unione Italians in the World of Brazil, on the active role of the communities Italians in the development of the first mutual aid organizations relief and in building a more equitable world of work in a Brazil in full social and economic transformation.
