"The gates of hell will open before you": Iran issues stern warning to Israel

Amid a growing escalation of violence between Iran and Israel , Colonel Tajik, spokesman for Iran’s military operation “ True Promise 3 ,” issued a stark warning that has captured international attention: “ The gates of hell will open before you .”

The phrase, which sums up the confrontational tone adopted by the Islamic Republic, was uttered during a message in which it reiterated the threat of severe retaliation from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) .

Tajik added that Iran's "thunderous missiles" will not allow Israeli citizens to leave "their underground shelters for even a moment," and concluded by assuring them that "they will not see the sun for several days." These statements come amid a series of attacks Iran has carried out as part of Operation True Promise , the third phase of which is currently underway.

The operation, known in Persian as Wa'ad al-Sadiq, was conceived in response to what Iran calls Israeli aggression , including the bombing of its embassy in Damascus in April 2024 and the assassination of senior Revolutionary Guard officers. Officially launched in 2024, the current phase, “ True Promise 3 ,” intensified on June 17, 2025, with the announcement of the “tenth wave” of attacks.

What is Operation True Promise 3?

According to reports on Iranian social media and in the media, the offensive included the launching of between 1,000 and 2,000 missiles and drones targeting Israeli territory . While the true extent of the damage is unknown, some unverified reports claim that Israeli defensive systems, such as the Iron Dome , failed to intercept all of the projectiles.

At the same time, tensions have worsened due to recent statements from the Iranian government regarding its nuclear program. According to a recent report by the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) , Iran threatened to develop an atomic bomb if its nuclear facilities are attacked by Israel.
