After years of absence, Sidra Pino would have a new chapter

MÉRIDA, Yucatán.— Iconic drinks such as Sidra Pino and Soldado de Chocolate are part of the collective memory of Yucatecans. For generations, these drinks sweetened the childhood of many families in the Yucatán Peninsula. Now, after years of absence, their history would have a new chapter .
According to Gabriel Pino , owner of the company “Sidra Pino” , who spoke to a television station, the company Casa Patito has taken on the mission of reviving the iconic soft drink , with the aim of transporting Yucatecans to their childhood through its unmistakable flavor. “We have talked about it as a family, we grew up with this,” said one of the founder's descendants.
José María Pino Rusconi started this story more than a century ago with the production of natural drinks. However, in 1965 the family sold the brand and, over time, the company declared bankruptcy. But the founder's great-great-grandchildren, Beatriz and Gabriel Pino , have worked tirelessly to recover his legacy.
“We started working when they gave us the trademark a little over three years ago,” said Gabriel Pino in the interview. During this time, they sought strategic allies that would guarantee the quality and distribution of the product. Today, the return of Sidra Pino is consolidated as an event that goes beyond a simple drink: it is the recovery of a fundamental part of the Yucatecan identity.
With its sweet flavor that combines vanilla, banana and citrus, Sidra Pino is a symbol of tradition in Yucatan. In addition, although there is still no set date, Gabriel Pino confirmed the imminent return of the Chocolate Soldier, a drink with hints of cinnamon that has conquered Yucatecans since its launch in 1950. “It is a flavor that has been Yucatecanized, adapted to our culture,” he said.
The return of these drinks not only represents an opportunity to relive the past, but also to connect with the roots and customs of the region, according to the interviewee.
