Benito Juárez aims to be the first pet-friendly mayor's office in Mexico City.

On the occasion of World Take Your Dog to Work Day , more than 40 employees of the Benito Juárez municipality attended their offices this Friday accompanied by their dogs , in a work day that seeks to promote responsible coexistence with companion animals.

This was the pet experience at the Benito Juárez offices.

Accompanied by “ Napa ” and “ Benita ,” two of his four pets , Mayor Luis Mendoza participated in the initiative and announced that his administration is working to obtain official certification as a pet-friendly mayor.

The goal is for Benito Juárez to be the first district in the capital where pets are fully accepted in public and workplace spaces, he noted.

“Today is World Bring Your Dog to Work Day, and the Benito Juárez City Hall will be no exception. We are seeking official certification as a pet-friendly city. We are adapting all our facilities so our dogs can be safe, comfortable, and well cared for,” the mayor stated.

The initiative was well received by the administrative staff. Carina Velázquez , a Finance employee, attended with " Luna ," her eight-month-old puppy, and celebrated the measure.

"It's a very nice initiative. I admire this administration's emphasis on love for animals and rescue. I wish more institutions would show this sensitivity," she commented.

As part of this commemorative date, the mayor's office reminded the public that it has a Companion Animal Veterinary Care Center ( CAVAC ), which provides affordable services seven days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Marco Antonio Ruiz, director of Medical Services for the district , emphasized that World Take Your Dog to Work Day also serves to raise awareness about essential animal care.

"This helps raise awareness about vaccination, sterilization, deworming, and, in general, the comprehensive care our pets should receive," he noted.

The goal is "to create an inclusive community, where pets are not only welcome, but also considered a fundamental part of the social environment," concluded district authorities .
