Bricklayer dies crushed between two vehicles in Saltillo; driver arrested

The person responsible lost control and climbed onto the sidewalk; the victim was standing next to his wheelbarrow when it was hit.

A man dedicated to masonry lost his life on Friday night after being crushed between two vehicles in a tragic accident that occurred in the Girasol neighborhood , south of Saltillo .

The fatal incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Saltillo Boulevard , a few meters from the intersection with Enrique Martínez Boulevard . According to initial reports, the suspect, identified as Sebastián N. , was traveling north to south when he lost control of the vehicle.

According to witnesses, the truck in which he was traveling went up onto the sidewalk of a grocery store , where the victim, José Guadalupe Morales Martínez , 40 , was located. At that time, he was standing next to his wheelbarrow , in which he was transporting work tools.

The vehicle struck the construction worker and dragged him until he was pinned against a parked Chevrolet Chevy , causing his almost instant death. His body came to rest beneath the vehicles , necessitating the intervention of the 911 emergency system.

Urban Rescue and Red Cross personnel arrived at the scene and confirmed that the worker no longer had vital signs . Municipal Traffic officers cordoned off the area and closed off traffic to facilitate the investigation.

Subsequently, experts from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) and agents from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) arrived and began collecting evidence and recordings to accurately determine the vehicle's trajectory.

The driver was arrested at the scene and taken to the Municipal Police Station , where he underwent a medical examination to determine whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently brought before the Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of negligent homicide .

The unfortunate incident has caused consternation among residents and workers in the area, who demanded justice for the victim and increased road safety in the area.
