Double Applies: Which cars will not be circulating this Thursday due to the Contingency in CDMX and Edomex?
The Double No Circulation Day applies this Thursday, February 27, 2025 in Mexico City (CDMX) and the State of Mexico (Edomex), after Phase 1 of the Environmental Contingency was activated this Wednesday.
The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) reported the activation of Phase 1 of Contingency due to maximum ozone concentrations of 157 ppb at the Tlalnepantla station (TLA), located in the Municipality of Tlalnepantla de Baz, in Edomex.
Double No Circulation Today Thursday February 27, 2025Due to the activation of the Contingency this Wednesday, February 26, on Thursday, February 27, 2025, they must suspend their circulation , from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.:
- Private vehicles with verification hologram 2.
- Private vehicles with verification hologram 1, whose last numerical digit is 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 0.
- Private vehicles with verification hologram 00 and 0, green sticker, plate ending 1 and 2
- Units that do not carry a verification hologram, such as old, demonstration or transfer vehicles, new vehicles, those with a tourist pass, foreign license plates or license plates consisting of letters, are subject to the same restriction as vehicles that carry hologram 2.
- Restriction on the circulation of 50% of stationary tank LP gas distribution units that do not have a dry disconnection valve and whose registration number is EVEN.
- Local or federal cargo vehicles stop circulating between 6:00 and 10:00 hours, with the exception of those that are in the CDMX or EDOMEX Self-Regulation Program.
- Taxis with verification hologram “00”, “0”, “1” or “2” that must stop circulating in accordance with the provisions indicated in sections 1), 2), and 3), will be restricted from circulating from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as those with an ecological registration or exempt hologram.
- Vehicles bearing a valid “00” or “0” hologram, regardless of the federal entity where they are registered, may circulate if they have a sticker other than green and license plate ending in 1 and 2.
- Vehicles for private use intended for clear and urgent circumstances to respond to a medical emergency.
- Taxis can circulate from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on days restricted by the Hoy No Circula Program, regardless of the hologram they carry, in order to support the mobility of the population.
CAMe explained that it activated Phase 1 of the Environmental Contingency because on February 26, 2025, a high pressure system over the eastern portion of the Valley of Mexico caused winds of light intensity and variable direction, which prevailed during the day, which in combination with intense solar radiation, favored the accumulation of ozone precursors for the formation of the pollutant.
For the above reasons and based on the Programs to Prevent and Respond to Atmospheric Environmental Contingencies that apply in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico, said CAMe, Phase 1 was activated, with the aim of reducing the population's exposure to contaminated air and the risk of affecting their health; as well as to reduce the generation of pollutants.
