First hearing held against alleged murderer of María Cristina

Last Saturday, the hearing to control the detention and formulate the charges against Jorge Abdiel “N”, 31 years old, who took the life of María Cristina last Wednesday in the city of Gómez Palacio, was held.

The head of the Laguna Region Vice-Prosecutor's Office, Juan Francisco Ángeles Zapata, reported that the profane woman will be prosecuted for the crime of femicide.

He indicated that the hearing to bring the accused to trial will be held next Wednesday, February 26 of this year.

"We believe we have sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and we will seek a significant criminal sanction at the appropriate time."

The official said that the penalty for the crime of femicide in the state is 40 to 60 years.

“The highest is 60 years, which you could get in a trial, in case the person responsible does not accept responsibility, and if he does accept responsibility, we would have to go for the minimum sentence.”

Finally, he recalled that the individual was arrested in flagrante delicto, indicated that he had no criminal record and that there were no reports of harassment on his part.

As reported at the time, the events occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19 at the exit of the Urrea Street overpass, between Auza and Cuauhtémoc in the Ampliación Santa Rosa neighborhood.

The 25-year-old woman was driving a Volkswagen Jetta, 2002 model, gray, with license plates from the state of Durango.

She was accompanied by the now detained man, who took a knife out of a backpack and attacked her repeatedly.

The unit crashed into the retaining wall and the subject was unable to exit the unit, so he was immediately secured.

This is the first case of femicide in the La Laguna area of ​​Durango so far in 2025; last year ended with two investigation files of this type.
