For CDMX ambulances are essential: Brugada

Nearly four million residents of the capital are covered by the health services of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), so having more ambulances is essential for Mexico City , said the head of government, Clara Brugada .
During his participation in the symbolic flag-off of one thousand new IMSS ambulances early Wednesday morning, Brugada said that the new vehicles will offer better coverage.
“Any effort made by the Mexican Social Security Institute in favor of Mexico City has a direct impact on the lives and well-being of the capital’s residents. So more ambulances mean greater coverage of health services, especially for the most vulnerable population. I can assure you that, for this Mexico City, it is essential to have more ambulances, because it means that we are going to guarantee better well-being and a better life for half of the population,” he said.
Zoé Robledo, head of the IMSS, reported that the thousand ambulances will provide service throughout the country and will be delivered gradually to the different facilities of the institute.
Early Wednesday morning, the flag was raised for 40 units that have medical and mechanical equipment, such as a patient cabin made of 13-millimeter plastic polymer and fiberglass, a 280-horsepower engine, a load capacity of 1,880 kilograms, a torque of 2,600 pounds per foot and a performance of 6.47 kilometers per liter, among other characteristics.
“Many times, those we serve are those who need it the most, those with the lowest income, the poorest in the country. And, as Clara says, for the poorest, the best. We cannot skimp on the social or economic condition of the population we serve, that is why we need to have the best ambulances in the country for the best people, who are the IMSS beneficiaries. All people are equal in the Fourth Transformation, but we should not compare them with those who are treated in private services or in private service ambulances. They make their effort, we respect that, but for the IMSS beneficiaries, the best,” she said.
