Government bets on full-time schools and mental health

Presenting the second part of the National Live Healthy Strategy , which seeks to prevent diseases from childhood, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the next stage will focus on addressing the issue of mental health among students and extended hours in some primary schools .
“The second step we want to take is to have mental health professionals who are dedicated to visiting all the schools in the country to be able to review and address any problems our children may have. And the next step, which we hope we can take soon, is that wherever they require it, wherever it is needed, wherever parents decide, we can have extended hours.”

She said that the goal is for schools to become health spaces, “spaces where not only what the New Mexican School establishes is learned, but where people also learn to live, to have a happy and healthy life.”
He also pointed out that the IMSS will be in charge of visiting all the schools in the country: “Together with the DIF , they will visit all the schools, no matter where they are in the most remote places of the cities .”
Support brigadesThe Secretary of Education, Mario Delgado, reported that, starting on March 12, a census of the weight and height of students will be carried out, as well as an oral examination. For this purpose, 738 brigades made up of 11 specialists from different ministries will be formed.
He stressed that UNICEF will be in charge of evaluating the results of this strategy and highlighted that the Fentanyl Kills You campaign was recognized by the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

For his part, the General Director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, commented that there will be 3,868 IMSS nurses who will be in more than 90 thousand schools to reach more than 11 million children, highlighting that this strategy in schools will be spaces for prevention, one of the 100 commitments of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Finally, Health Secretary David Kershenobich explained that the strategy will place health at the center of education by promoting healthy habits.
Support for studentsDuring the presentation of the second part of the Live Healthy Strategy, the Government announced the Visualize Your Dreams program, which will be based on providing students with eye exams and, if necessary, free glasses.
