Jericó Abramo urges the unblocking of cattle exports from Mexico to the United States.

Jericó Abramo urges the unblocking of cattle exports from Mexico to the United States.

Coahuila's federal deputy, Jericó Abramo Masso , urged federal authorities to accelerate actions to comply with U.S. demands so that cattle exports to that country are not affected.

"We need the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of the Interior to unblock what needs to be unblocked with unions, state governments, and health authorities to resolve this problem, which is affecting the export of 1.4 million head of cattle," the legislator said.

Abramo said that entities like Coahuila have complied with export protocols.

"We will be in Mexico City very early to convey this sentiment, this concern about the lack of adequate procedures for exporting cattle to our neighboring country due to a lack of information," said the Coahuila legislator.

The United States government warned over the weekend that it will restrict cattle imports from Mexico if the government does not step up its fight against the screwworm plague.

The Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Julio Berdegué , said that Mexico has promptly responded to the letter sent by the United States and emphasized that the country is acting with a "cool head," collaborating and cooperating, but without subordinating itself.
