Knife attack at Hamburg Central Station leaves 12 injured

A violent knife attack rocked Hamburg's central train station in Germany on Friday afternoon, leaving at least 12 people injured, three of them seriously, according to EFE and the port city's police.

The incident occurred around 4:05 p.m. local time on platforms 13 and 14 of the busy railway hub . According to NTV, which cited the Hamburg Fire Department, emergency services deployed a massive operation to assist the victims and secure the area.

A man armed with a knife attacked several passengers at Hamburg's central train station in an incident that has been preliminarily classified as a possible terrorist act, according to local media.

Following the violent incident, the Hamburg Fire Department reported that at least six people suffered serious stab wounds and were rushed to nearby hospitals. Three other people suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Although German authorities have not yet confirmed that this was a terrorist attack, a large-scale police operation was deployed at the station to secure the area and continue the investigation.
