More time and support for people with disabilities in public employment entrance exams

The Government approved a ministerial order this Thursday updating the adaptations contemplated in public employment access tests for people with disabilities , especially in matters related to the duration of the exam and the resources available to them.
These adaptations can range from providing applicants with material and human resources, assistance, supports, assistive products, or assistive technologies to ensuring accessibility to information and communication processes, physical space, or virtual media and channels where the tests are conducted.
For example, the applicant may receive assistance from a personal assistant or from specifically regulated assistants who provide accessibility services for deaf, hard of hearing, and deaf-blind individuals, among others.
During the tests and throughout the selection process, people with disabilities will also have the right to carry and use, without restriction , assistive devices, assistance dogs, orthoses, and prostheses (including hearing aids) that they routinely use due to their disability and as a means of self-sufficiency and can certify as such.
In addition, additional time will be provided for completing the corresponding exercises.
The regulations complement other measures such as increasing the quota for people with disabilities from 7% to 10% in the civil service sector and the creation of employment inclusion units in each ministerial department.
