PID agent killed in Gómez Palacio bar; authorities investigating

A member of the Criminal Investigation Police (PID) was killed in a bar in the city of Gómez Palacio. Authorities are already investigating the incident.

The deceased was identified as Rubén Eduardo Moreno López, with provisional address at the Laguna Regional Vice-Prosecutor's Office, located in the Sergio Méndez neighborhood of the city of Lerdo.

The incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. this Sunday, July 6th of this year, inside the bar called Makondo, located on Miguel Alemán Boulevard and Trujano Street in the city of Gómez Palacio.

Security sources reported that the deceased was inside the establishment and at one point, in the bathroom area, was beaten by one of the security guards.

Later, as he left the table area, another guard grabbed him by the neck and began to subdue him.

Finally, while on the ground, the man lost consciousness, presumably due to strangulation.

When they tried to revive him, they realized that Rubén Eduardo no longer had vital signs.

The presence of the city's security forces was immediately requested through multiple reports to the state's 911 emergency system.

Members of the Directorate of Security and Citizen Protection and the State Police secured the area until the arrival of police forces.

The Criminal Investigation Police (PID) personnel began the initial investigation.

The Public Prosecutor, assigned to the homicide area, took note of the death.

It was reported that the man was an active member of the aforementioned corporation and was off duty at the time of the events.

It has been reported that the security guards identified as the alleged perpetrators of the murder have been detained, pending further confirmation from authorities.

The deceased's body was taken to the forensic medical service facilities for a legal autopsy.

The Deputy Attorney General's Office of the State of Durango, Laguna Region, has already opened a case and begun its initial investigations into the case.
