An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner operating on the Ahmedabad-London Gatwick route crashed minutes after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport in Ahmedabad, India, on Thursday, June 12.

Despite the magnitude of the accident, authorities officially reported only one survivor. According to preliminary recordings, it was a man of approximately 45 years of age who was unharmed.

Alleged videos of Ramesh Viswashkumar, the sole survivor of the tragic plane crash, are circulating on social media. The video shows the man, with a slightly bloody face, walking apparently unharmed and being helped into an ambulance. A photo of his ticket shows him sitting on 11A.

According to media reports, the man offered some details about the moments before the crash. “Thirty seconds after takeoff, there was a loud noise, and then the plane crashed. It all happened very quickly. When I woke up, there were bodies all around me,” he reported.

The aircraft, with 242 people on board—230 passengers and 12 crew members—lost contact after issuing an emergency call of “MAYDAY” and crashed into a populated area , causing an explosion and a dense column of smoke.

Among the passengers was Vijay Rupani , former chief minister of Gujarat and a prominent figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Authorities have not yet confirmed his death. The crash left at least 204 confirmed dead, including 20 medical students from BJ Medical College , whose residence was hit.

Videos posted on social media show the uncontrolled descent of the aircraft and the flames after the impact. Emergency and military teams remain on the scene while the General Directorate of Civil Aviation investigates the cause of the crash.
