Red alert activated due to rain in Mexico City

The Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection ( SGIRPC ) updated its issuance of rain alerts in Mexico City for the night of June 25 , with a red alert due to persistent heavy rains in Álvaro Obregón , Iztapalapa , Tláhuac , Tlalpan and Xochimilco .
Rainfall of between 50 and 70 millimeters is forecast for these areas between 7:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. this Wednesday .

Additionally, the orange alert has been updated due to persistent heavy rains in Benito Juárez , Gustavo A. Madero , Iztacalco , Milpa Alta , and Venustiano Carranza . Meanwhile, the yellow alert remains in effect in Azcapotzalco , Coyoacán , Cuauhtémoc , Cuajimalpa , Magdalena Contreras , and Miguel Hidalgo .
In light of the persistent rains in Mexico City , the capital's department recommended that residents carry umbrellas or raincoats and not throw grease or garbage down the drain . They should also sweep drains and keep them free of trash or objects that could clog them.
