The interrupted events occurred during a session to elect and renew several Mexican consuls, including the ratification of Juan Antonio Ferrer (former head of Insabi) as UNESCO ambassador.

As part of the PAN member's demands, she asserted that "Ferrer should face justice instead of having a trip paid for with your taxes, after having left you without medication, without health services, without hospital services."

The opposition legislators were in the midst of this when Senator Karina Ruiz , of Morena, approached Lilly to cut the cable of the megaphone she used to make herself heard as a market vendor during rush hour.

“Put down the scissors, put down the scissors!” Téllez exclaimed, while Ruiz—apparently inexperienced in opening Amazon packages—took nearly a minute to manage to cut the cable.

Despite being left without a speaker, Lilly continued her arguments throughout the session, albeit in a quieter voice now… at least until she can make another run to RadioShack , if it still exists.
