In a week that began with pleasant conditions but worsened starting Thursday in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), the National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued an orange and yellow alert for storms and rain for various parts of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, Córdoba, Neuquén, Río Negro, and Chubut for this Friday, May 16 .
According to the official, the most affected areas will be northern Buenos Aires and southern Santa Fe , where an orange warning is in effect. The area will be affected by the following: 9 de Julio, 25 de Mayo, Bragado, Los Toldos, Lincoln, General Pinto, Vedia, Junín, General Arenales, Rojas, Pergamino, Arrecifes, Salto, Carmen de Areco, Alberti, Chivilcoy, Chacabuco, and San Andrés de Giles. This forecast implies that "dangerous meteorological phenomena are expected for society, life, property, and the environment," and he explained: "Accumulated precipitation values between 90 and 160 mm are expected, and may be exceeded in specific cases, with gusts and hail."
Meanwhile, another area of Buenos Aires will be under a yellow warning. This applies to parts of the eastern sector (between Miramar and Magdalena), the central sector (between Azul and Saladillo), and the western sector (from Pehuajó to Florentino Ameghino). This warning alerts for "possible meteorological phenomena with the potential for damage and the risk of temporary interruption of daily activities."
The yellow alert will also affect Entre Ríos (in Victoria and Gualeguay), Santa Fe (Rosario, San Lorenzo, Cañada de Gómez, Las Rosas, Sastre, Esperanza and Rafaela) and Córdoba (Bell Ville, Marcos Juárez, Laboulaye and Villa Huidobro).
Meanwhile, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) also issued a yellow warning for heavy rains for the south of the country , which includes the mountainous areas of Chubut and Río Negro , and a small part of Neuquén , where Villa La Angostura is located. The probability of precipitation will be between 40 and 70%, and gusts will travel at a speed between 70 and 78 kilometers per hour.
The agency under the Ministry of Defense reported that the temperature in the city of Buenos Aires will hover around 21.2°C , in line with recent days. Lows of 20°C and highs of 24°C are expected, with scattered thunderstorms occurring throughout the day. Winds from the northeast will reach speeds of approximately 10 kilometers per hour, and the humidity will be 92%.
A similar forecast is expected in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area, with an average temperature of 20.2°C , as well as lows of 20°C and highs of 24°C. As in the city, there will be scattered thunderstorms throughout the day, although humidity will be higher at 97 percent.
