Transforming schools with safe water: technology and education for a better future

ADO , in collaboration with Agua Segura , the Mendoza government and the Municipality of Las Heras , made possible the installation of under-counter ultrafiltration systems to eliminate bacteria, viruses and impurities from drinking water in peri-urban schools.
The action was carried out within the framework of the Together for Water program, which combines technology, innovation, and education to offer solutions at water access points in schools, which in many cases is obtained from wells or untreated springs .
The program also includes educational workshops so that the students themselves can become "water ambassadors" and spread messages of responsible and conscious water use to their communities. With the support of educational materials provided to teachers, topics related to the water cycle , its connection to health , hygiene and hydration habits , and efficient use of the resource are addressed.
Together for Water is part of Aguas de Origen 's sustainability strategy . In June 2025 , the program was implemented in the area of influence of the Villavicencio plant in Mendoza, with activities in eight schools in Las Heras and Lavalle , benefiting more than 1,000 students, teachers, and community members . It is worth noting that the initiative was declared of interest by the Government of Mendoza .
In addition, it was implemented in 7 rural schools in Chascomús, Buenos Aires —where the company produces Villa del Sur— reaching more than 240 people .
“At Aguas de Origen, we are guided by the goal of improving healthy hydration habits through innovative and sustainable water-based products and services. The water access program is a result of that commitment, with which we seek to transform the lives of our communities and hundreds of students, turning their daily water source into safe, high-quality water.”
— Juan Pablo Barrale , Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Manager at CCU and Aguas de Origen .
For his part, Tadeo García Zalazar , Minister of Education, Culture, Children and General Directorate of Schools of the Province of Mendoza , highlighted:
“When we talk about conserving water, we're not just talking about a resource: we're talking about our present and our children's future. In Mendoza, we know the value of every drop, and that's why, as part of the education system, we want every child and every student to grow up understanding the importance of acting responsibly and environmentally consciously. This commitment we're making together is a great opportunity to educate not only with words, but also by example.”
Likewise, the mayor of Las Heras , Francisco Lo Presti , remarked:
“We always emphasize the collaborative work between the public and private sectors, even more so in the development of programs like this one. We believe it's the path to a better society when both parties are committed to providing solutions to the real problems of each community they impact.”
“Access to safe water is more than a necessity: it's a tool that transforms time, health, and opportunities. In many rural schools, accessing water involves daily efforts—transportation, storage, boiling water—that take up valuable hours of the day. When water arrives safely and directly, that time is restored: time to learn, time to play, time to live better.”
Thanks to programs like Together for Water, and the sustained commitment of Aguas de Origen and Villavicencio, this change is already happening. Transforming access to water means transforming everyday life. It means freeing up time to study, taking care of your health, and sowing the future. And when it's done in partnership, that future arrives faster.
— Manuel Sauri , CEO of Safe Water .
For the second consecutive year, collaboration between the public and private sectors has allowed the program to continue to be implemented and expand its reach .
