Tropical Storm Dalila will bring heavy rains to these states.

Tropical Storm Dalila will bring heavy rains to these states.

This Sunday, June 15, the weather in much of Mexico will be marked by a combination of meteorological phenomena, including Tropical Storm Dalila, an active tropical wave, low-pressure systems, and an intense heat wave.

The interaction of these systems will generate rainfall of varying intensity in the south of the country, as well as high temperatures in the north and center of the country.

Tropical Storm Dalila: movement and effects

Although Dalila is gradually moving away from the national coast, its circulation is still affecting the western part of the country. It is moving west-northwestward off Mexico's Pacific coast and continues to generate adverse conditions.

According to the Conagua report, Dalila is located approximately 320 kilometers west-southwest of Jalisco and 380 kilometers west-southwest of Colima , with winds of 85 kilometers per hour.

Affected States:

Heavy rains (75 to 150 mm) : Jalisco and Nayarit

Heavy rains (50 to 75 mm): Sinaloa, Colima and Michoacán

Waves of 2.5 to 3.5 meters: coasts of Baja California Sur, Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán

Waves of 1.5 to 2.5 meters: coast of Sinaloa, Nayarit, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas

Authorities urge the public to remain alert and follow Civil Protection recommendations due to the risk of landslides, flooding, and damage to urban and rural areas.

Tropical wave and low pressure: rain and possible cyclone

At the same time, tropical wave number 3, interacting with a low-pressure zone with cyclonic potential, will sweep across the southeast of the country, causing heavy rainfall:

  • Heavy rains in Oaxaca, Chiapas, and southern Veracruz
  • Showers in southern and southeastern states

In addition, a low-pressure channel extending across the north and center of the country, along with moisture from the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico, will bring heavy to very heavy rains accompanied by lightning in:

  • Valley of Mexico
  • San Luis Potosí
  • Querétaro
  • Puebla
