Will there be classes this Friday? This is what the official SEP calendar says

During the last week of February, students will have an extra day off from the weekend. This is what the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) says about it.

The SEP confirmed that there will be no classes in elementary schools across the country on Friday, February 28, 2025.

This suspension is due to the holding of the School Technical Council (CTE), the monthly meeting between directors and teachers that takes place on the last Friday of each month according to the official SEP calendar.

The suspension of classes applies to all levels of basic education , from preschool to secondary school, and to both public and private schools that are incorporated into the National Education System.

So students at these levels will enjoy a long weekend, since, The suspension on Friday 28th is added to the regular weekend.

What do teachers do at CTE?

The School Technical Council is a monthly meeting in which the teaching and management staff meet to work on planning and evaluating strategies that help improve the quality of education for students.

In other words, this is a fundamental space for the professional development of teachers and the continuous improvement of schools.

Generally, this council addresses issues such as the academic analysis of girls and boys, the design of strategies to strengthen learning, the exchange of experiences and good practices between teachers, and attention to the specific problems of each school.

What other breaks are on the SEP calendar?

At the end of February, the countdown to the Easter holidays begins. This year, according to the school calendar for the 2024-2025 cycle, This holiday period will be from April 14 to 25.

But don't worry, before that, in the month of March there will be other long weekends that can alleviate the need for vacations, on March 17 and 28 there will also be no classes in commemoration of the birthday of Benito Juárez and again the CTE.
