Book Fair 2025: Today's Recommended Books, April 28

The second week of the Book Fair kicks off with offerings for younger readers and longtime literature lovers. There are tributes to María Elena Walsh and Laura Devetach , courses on financial literacy and crime fiction , lectures on psychoanalysis , and much more to enjoy on Monday.

Remembering María Elena

"Telling with María Elena" is a storytelling and song show by María Elena Walsh, designed for children ages 2 to 12. It will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Storytelling Room - Children's Area. At 4 p.m., the children's activities continue with a mask-making workshop inspired by characters from Argentine legends . For children ages 5 to 12, the Children's Area Workshop will be held.

Finance is of interest to everyone, and that's why Banco Provincia is offering a course titled Rico.en.data at 2:30 p.m., focused on financial education. It aims to provide high school students with theoretical knowledge and practical tools to make informed decisions regarding their daily finances. It will be held in the Rodolfo Walsh room.

The mysteries of Agatha Christie

The afternoon begins with some good old-fashioned mysteries. At 4:00 p.m., writer Pablo De Santis and philologist Santiago Kalinowski will begin teaching the first class of the course "Agatha Christie and the Joy of Reading. Why Do We Love Reading Detective Novels?" in the Carlos Gorostiza Room.

A little later, at 5:30 p.m., the biography of prosecutor Julio Cesar Strasera , the celebrated State representative in the Trial of the Juntas that began 40 years ago, will be presented. The presentation will be accompanied by journalists Jaime Rosemberg and Luis Quevedo in the Adolfo Bioy Casares Room.

Therapy on screens

To close the day, a very current debate: Virtuality: Psychoanalysis in the Post-Pandemic with Ernesto Sinatra, Barbara Sagasta, and Sebastián Zylberberg at 7 p.m. in the Tulio Halperín Donghi room.

Also at 7 p.m., the book launch of "My Friends: The Argentine Exile of María Teresa León" by Alicia Ovando will take place. Participants include Annamaría Muchnik, Juan Chiesa, Beatriz Figallo, and the author in the Alfonsina Storni Room.

And at 8:30 p.m., the great Nilson publishing house presents "The Wolf and His Time" by Laura Devetach . The poems in this book prowl like menacing wolves, exposing us to a disturbing series of sensations that, as we turn each page, are tense, tingly, and alert. And it turns out you're not the same after reading. The legendary Laura Devetach herself, Laura Roldán Devetach, Cecilia Bajour, and Sebastián Vargas will participate in the Rodolfo Walsh room.
