More and more people cannot imagine their lives without the company of an animal. In Colombia, 67% of households have at least one pet, representing more than 4.4 million families sharing their daily lives with dogs or cats, according to DANE figures. This phenomenon reflects a transformation in urban lifestyles: animals no longer remain solely at home, but accompany their owners to the park, the vet, work, or even leisure activities.

The rise of this relationship has also driven the "pet-friendly" trend, especially in major cities. Demand for pet products and services has grown steadily, generating new business opportunities and strengthening the bond between people and animals , according to a study by EAN University.

In this context, Cabify announced the launch of "Cabify Pets," a category designed for those who travel with their pets. From the app , it will be possible to request a ride and travel with dogs or cats immediately, without the need for prior reservations. This option will initially be available in Bogotá, both for taxis and private vehicles, and will appear alongside the other categories when requesting a ride.

“With the launch of Cabify Pets, we reaffirm our commitment to a more inclusive urban mobility that meets people's real needs. This new category not only makes the daily commutes easier for those who share their lives with pets, but also recognizes pets as a fundamental part of our families and today's urban dynamics,” said Daniel Schelesinger, country manager of Cabify Colombia.

Recommendations for users

In order to promote more responsible mobility, the company shared a series of recommendations for users traveling with their pets. Among them, it emphasizes that animals must always be accompanied by their owner or guardian. The use of a carrier, leash, or harness is mandatory, depending on the size and characteristics of the animal. To ensure the cleanliness and comfort of everyone, it is suggested to carry a blanket or towel over the seat. For anxious pets, it is recommended to bring a toy or blanket that provides security. Additionally, a maximum of one pet is allowed per trip, only dogs or cats.

The initiative includes a charitable component. During September, 10% of sales from all trips made in the "Cabify Pets" category will be donated to the Doggy In Home Foundation, an organization that promotes responsible pet adoption.

Alliance with Laika

The launch of "Cabify Mascotas" also includes a partnership with Laika, a pet products and services platform in Latin America. The collaboration includes cross-benefits for users, educational campaigns on social media, and joint content aimed at promoting more pet-friendly urban mobility.

“At Laika, we believe that pet well-being encompasses every aspect of their lives, including how they get around. This partnership with Cabify represents an opportunity to facilitate safer and more comfortable experiences for millions of families who share their daily lives with pets. Together, we want to promote a more pet-friendly city and continue developing services that respond to the new dynamics of responsible consumption,” said Andrea González, co-founder of Laika.
