Carmenza Duque , iconic Colombian singer, passed away on the morning of May 22 at the age of 74 , in the United States.

Born in the city of Manizales , she made a difference with her soft voice in romantic ballads, boleros, Andean music and also rancheras throughout her career, which saw its peak in the 1980s.

According to her daughter, María Francisca Duque , who spoke to 'W Radio', her mother had been suffering from illnesses for a year, which complicated her life in recent weeks.

" She had been having quite a few complications for a year, with many hospital visits and outings ," her relative said, also adding that she suffered a cardiac arrest in 2024. " They put in a pacemaker ," she had two heart attacks months later, and " was now traveling, out and about ."
