Mendoza forecast: cold, winds, and frost mark the beginning of winter.

Winter weather is expected this Saturday, with frost, Zonda winds in the foothills, and a sharp drop in temperature. The minimum temperature will be 2°C.

This weekend, the weather in Mendoza officially welcomes winter with a marked drop in temperature and unstable conditions. Although winter 2025 formally began at 11:42 p.m. on Friday, June 20, minutes before midnight, Saturday, June 21, already presents a typically wintery scenario with partial frost, Zonda winds, and possible snowfall in the mountains.

Winter arrived with frost and the shortest day

Winter 2025 officially began in Argentina at 11:42 p.m. on Friday, June 20, with the solstice, which marks the beginning of the coldest season and the time with the fewest hours of sunlight. This astronomical phenomenon is caused by the tilt of the Earth's axis and the Earth's orbit around the Sun, which means that the Southern Hemisphere receives less solar radiation during this time.

For Mendoza, the National Meteorological Service predicts a winter with slightly above-normal temperatures in much of the country, except in the central region.
