The Mendoza Transportation Society (STM) reported that Metrotram service is temporarily interrupted between the Gutiérrez and Las Heras stations , in both directions. They also indicated that no serious injuries were reported among passengers, and that those traveling in the area were treated by medical services in the area.

The cause of the incident is unknown at this time , but all indications are that something got in the way of the tracks, causing the train to derail and crash into the retaining wall at the side of the track.
The incident occurred in a northbound train, but traffic has been halted in both directions until the vehicle can be removed.
The STM emphasized that despite the incident, "the Metrotram system's security measures responded favorably to the situation." They also added that STM personnel are conducting the appropriate technical examinations to determine the cause of the incident.
