Will There Be an Overcompensating Season 2?
preview for Benito Skinner Pranks Charli xcx, Jake Shane, and Adam DiMarco | Phoning It In | ELLE

Benito Skinner’s Overcompensating debuted on May 15 on streaming service Prime Video, releasing all eight episodes of its first season at once. Skinner has almost three million followers on TikTok and an extensive list of fans in other places, including in music—one of his besties, Charli XCX, makes an appearance. But will there be a season 2?

Here’s what we know so far about Overcompensating potentially coming back.

Will there be a season 2 of Overcompensating?

So far, there has been no announcement either way. Since the show just came out, it might be some time before Prime decides where to take the series.

What would happen in a season 2 of Overcompensating?

Skinner plays a young man named Benny enrolled at Yates University, where he’s figuring out how to survive college. Benny spent his high school career as a successful jock who lived all four years in the closet. Benny is still not ready to come out, so he befriends Carmen, trying to make her into his girlfriend.

The first season ends with Carmen outing him after he revealed to her that he had a crush on Miles. Carmen and Miles then share a moment, leading to a kiss. Unfortunately, Benny catches them and runs off, only to be chased by Carmen, who yells out his secret in front of Miles and their friends. This cliffhanger presents a huge shift in how these people relate to and understand one another, and it definitely changes how Benny is going to be moving through life at Yates.

Who will be cast in season 2 of Overcompensating?

Benito Skinner would of course have to return as Benny, and likely Bally Waram as Carmen, Rish Shah as Miles, Owen Thiele as George, Adam DiMarco as Peter, and Mary Beth Barone as Grace.

In an interview with Variety, Skinner also suggested he’d love to see a very special guest on the show: Pedro Pascal.

This post will be updated.
