A typical family of four needed $1,110,624 to avoid poverty in May, according to the Total Basic Basket ( CBT ) reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Census ( INDEC ).

The CBT increased by 0.1% monthly, while compared to the same month last year, it increased by 30.5%. Year-to-date, the total basket accumulated an increase of 8.4%.

As for the Basic Food Basket (BFB), for the first time in twelve months, it registered a monthly decline of 0.4%. Compared to the previous year, it increased by 29.3%.

So far this year, the CBA has accumulated an 11.3% increase . Thus, a three-person household needed a total of $1,282,468 to cover both baskets: $398,282 for the CBA and $884,186 for the CBT.

A typical family of four needed $1,610,905 in May to cover their expenses. $500,281 was the total from the CBA (Basic Basic Income) and $1,110,624 from the CBT (Basic Basic Income).

Finally, a household of five people claimed a total of $1,694,317 in the fifth month of the year: $526,185 from the CBA and $1,168,132 from the CBT.

Thus , both baskets recorded their lowest monthly increases in the last twelve months. Compared to May's inflation, both baskets were below both the monthly CPI figure (1.5%) and the year-over-year figure (43.5%).
