Andalusia strengthens its relationship with China: Moreno receives Vice President Han Zheng

The President of the Andalusian Regional Government, Juanma Moreno, received the Vice President of the People's Republic of China, Han Zheng , at the San Telmo Palace, accompanied by other officials from the Chinese delegation. This is the only visit the Chinese vice president will make to a regional region, following meetings with the President of the Spanish Government and His Majesty King Felipe VI.

With this meeting, Andalusia and China send an important message: good relations and understanding without impositions are the best foundations for forging joint and global progress and advancing key projects and investments for the Andalusian community.

It's worth remembering that during the Andalusian delegation's trip to China, initiatives emerged with leading companies in the renewable energy and automotive sectors. Two of them have been declared of regional strategic interest and will soon be able to host one of the main lithium battery factories in Spain and one of the largest in Europe.

China is the first non-European country and the second in the world where Andalusian exports grew the most in 2024, by 16.2%, reaching 1.317 billion euros , compared to the 1.6% drop in the Spanish average.

China was the ninth largest market in the world and Andalusia the third largest non-European market. Andalusia accounts for 17.6% of all Spanish sales to China, making it the third largest exporting region.

In 2024, trade reached €3.386 billion, with a coverage rate of 64%, compared to only 16.5% in Spain. Between January and March 2025, China was the top 10 country with the highest export growth, up 25.6% to €333 million.

This week, another Chinese delegation visited Jaén looking for investment locations, and a Chinese company launched its photovoltaic investment portfolio in Spain in Andalusia.
