Aragon asks the central government to sign the FITE 2025

Aragon asks the central government to sign the FITE 2025

The Government of Aragon wants to sign the Teruel Investment Fund (FITE) 2025, but there is currently no date for its signature with the central government. This is why the Aragonese government has already sent two letters to the Ministry of Territorial Policy requesting progress on this agreement to boost business projects and investments in the province of Teruel.

The intention of the Government of Aragon was to sign the FITE 2025 before the summer , but this has not been the case, which is why these contacts have been established via letter, as explained by the Minister of the Presidency, Economy and Justice of the Government of Aragon, Mar Vaquero, during her appearance in the Parliament of Aragon in which, in addition, she announced the opening of these funds to investment and innovation projects in the defense sector .

This is not the first time that the deadlines the Government of Aragon considers appropriate for signing the FITE have not been met . Last year, the signing and subsequent approval by the central government and the executive branch took place at the end of 2024. Specifically, it was given the green light by the Council of Ministers on December 17, while in Aragon, final approval was given on December 19 through an extraordinary Government Council meeting , to be subsequently signed electronically.

On that occasion, the Executive expressed its disagreement with the fact that the FITE was being signed at the end of the year, as it would take days to promote business projects, advocating for accelerating the deadlines within the corresponding budget year.

And it is a line that is being emphasized again because, without the signing and approval of the agreement, " every day is a day in which opportunities are lost ," Vaquero added during his speech in the Aragonese Parliament, in relation to the fact that last year, the delay in its signing meant the loss of a year of work, given that the FITE 2024 projects have to be developed between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2027.

The delay to 2024 was justified by the need to allocate a specific budget due to the lack of a General State Budget, which was extended , a situation that will occur again in 2025. In this case, Aragon's budget has also been extended.

The agreement signed last year between the Government of Aragon and the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory included a budget of €60 million , with the regional and central governments contributing 50% of the total. It was also agreed that this amount would be increased to 86 million over the next two years.
