Bernat Biosca, the textile entrepreneur who promoted Scorpio, dies.

Bernat Biosca, CEO of Escorpion and one of the great driving forces behind local fashion, has passed away. A promoter of textile reindustrialization and modernization, he was a tireless advocate of innovation and sustainability. After the unexpected news that Bernat had left us, calls began to flow between those of us who had been fortunate enough to share projects at some point. In these conversations, two words that defined him were repeated: positivity and commitment.
Bernat was a staunch advocate of local industry. In the midst of globalization, he was already committed to sustainability, circularity, and local production, both at Escorpion—a family business he led as a third generation—and at the Fitex Foundation, Fagepi, and the Modacc cluster.
When many saw the potential of textiles, and especially knitwear, as exhausted, he continued to believeWith Fitex, he promoted projects to recover part of the relocated production, promoting a new, technologically advanced and sustainable industry. Technology transfer, collaboration between innovation centers, the training of specialized talent, and opening up to international markets were the key pillars.
From Fagepi, he contributed to initiatives such as the BSTIM (Best Solutions in Textile Manufacturing) fair, events such as the 08700 Noches de Piel y Punto or Igualada Fashion Hub.
As an active member of Modacc, he championed the importance of cluster policies as a driver of competitiveness. He firmly believed in structured collaboration between companies, institutions, and organizations to foster innovation, internationalization, and the global positioning of the sector.
He was an excellent ambassador for Igualada and its industrial fabric, highlighting the tradition, but above all, the future of the capital of Anoia as a benchmark hub for fashion manufacturing.
When many believed the potential of textiles, and especially knitwear, was exhausted, he continued to believe. He demonstrated this at Escorpion with vision, perseverance, and innovation in the pursuit of cleaner production processes, the use of sustainable materials, and digitalization.
Scorpion is also a regular brand on the 080 Barcelona Fashion catwalk, showcasing elegant, responsible knitwear with its own identity.
In one of my last conversations with him, I told him that, when asked, I was very proud to be able to explain that I wore quality pieces made in Igualada. "That's how I like it," I said. And I will continue to do so, now especially remembering his defense of this evolution in the sector.
Read alsoI deeply regret the loss of Bernat. I will always remember his enthusiasm, vision, rigor, and generosity in all the concerns and projects we shared. My sincere condolences to his family, the Escorpion professional family, and all his colleagues at Fitex, Fagepi, and Modacc. May Bernat rest in peace. We will always remember your legacy.
