Goodbye to the June bonus: SEPE confirms that the subsidy for those over 52 does not include it.

Goodbye to the June bonus: SEPE confirms that the subsidy for those over 52 does not include it.

The month of June is a highly anticipated time for many workers and retirees alike, as it's traditionally the month in which they receive one of the year's bonus payments . This money comes in handy when planning vacations or any other summer projects.

And while it may provide a financial boost in some cases, not everyone receives it. This is the case, for example, of people receiving the subsidy for those over 52, a benefit for the unemployed that contributes to their retirement pension.

It's worth remembering that most contributory pensions in the system are paid in 14 monthly installments, meaning that in both June and November, people receive an extra payment in addition to the corresponding 12 monthly installments . However, the benefit for those over 52 is not the same.

Despite contributing to the retirement pension, it is an unemployment benefit and , therefore, there is no right to extra pay, as indicated by the SEPE:

  • No extra payments are made out of either contributory benefits or unemployment benefits.

Therefore, unemployment benefits, family benefits, and benefits for those over 52 will receive a maximum of 12 annual payments , excluding these two extras, which are so common in, for example, contributory pensions.

They are non-contributory benefits

It's worth remembering that unemployment benefits are non-contributory benefits. No contributions are generated, and therefore, their amount is not based on contributions, so there is no entitlement to extra payments. The same applies to the Minimum Living Income (IMV) , as beneficiaries also do not receive any additional payment beyond their previous benefits.
