Green light for three new green fuel berths at the port of Barcelona

The Council of Ministers will authorize this Tuesday the tender for the construction of three new berths at the Port of Barcelona. Designed for the loading and unloading of green fuels, they will be located directly next to the existing berths at the Energy Dock. They are expected to accommodate the increase in liquid bulk traffic that the Catalan capital's infrastructure is experiencing.
The incorporation of new operators and an increase in traffic involving this type of fuel have led to the Energy dock being completely occupied. The three new designated berths for cargo vessels will increase its capacity.

Once awarded, the works will take just over three years and involve an investment of nearly €124 million. This is the highest-value project among all those underway by the Port Authority of Barcelona for the 2024-2028 period, agreed with Puertos del Estado (State Ports). In addition to this project, the completion of the construction projects for the road and rail accesses is expected, one of the major pending projects in Catalonia that now seems to have no turning back after many years.
