In April, the unemployment rate in Querétaro fell.

Querétaro, Qro. During April, the Unemployment Rate (UR) in the state of Querétaro was 1.91% of the Economically Active Population (EAP).

The entity experienced a reduction of 0.69 percentage points compared to April 2024 (2.60% of the EAP), reports the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE), of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography ( Inegi ).

Based on annual comparisons, in the first four months of 2025, the state of Querétaro saw consecutive declines in the UR: in January it reported an annual reduction of 0.94 percentage points, in February the variation was -0.01 points, in March -0.15 points, and in April -0.69 points.

This latest change placed Querétaro as the state with the seventh-largest reduction in its unemployment rate, according to the survey results.

The state reported a similar decrease in monthly performance, as the annual growth rate (UR) in March of this year was 2.57%, and in April the indicator fell 0.66 percentage points.

Thus, in the fourth month of the year, Querétaro was among the three states with the largest monthly decline in the country, only behind Zacatecas , whose TD fell 1.01 points, and Chihuahua , which fell 0.79 points.

The unemployed population is defined as those who did not work even one hour during the survey's reference week, but expressed their willingness to do so and even engaged in some activity to obtain employment, the statistics institute states.

Of the 32 states, the unemployment rate increased annually in 17, while it decreased in the other 15. The largest increases were recorded in Jalisco (+0.75 percentage points), Morelos (0.61 points), Quintana Roo (0.56 points), Baja California Sur (0.55 points), and Durango (0.44 points); the most significant decreases were reported in Guanajuato (-1.18 points), Veracruz (-1.02 points), Chihuahua (-0.89 points), Zacatecas (-0.85 points), and Sonora (-0.78 points).

In the fourth month of the year, the five entities with the lowest unemployment rate were Guerrero (0.74%), in addition to Michoacán (1.43%), Oaxaca (1.47%), Chihuahua (1.72%) and Veracruz (1.75 percent).

On the contrary, the entities with the highest unemployment rate in April: Tabasco (4.33%), Tamaulipas (3.59%), Baja California Sur (3.52%), Mexico City (3.45%) and Coahuila (3.24 percent).

In the country, the ER was 2.54% of the EAP in April, experiencing an annual decrease of 0.07 percentage points compared to April 2024, when it was 2.61%; however, it represented a monthly increase of 0.32 points, given that in March of this year the ER was 2.22% of the EAP.
