Inflation in Buenos Aires City slowed to 1.6%.

Inflation in the City of Buenos Aires ( CABA ) slowed to 1.6% in August, reaching 20% on an annual basis, according to the Institute of Statistics and Census of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires ( IDECBA ) . After two consecutive increases, the local index declined and managed to drop while the national government continues to focus on crushing inflation.
According to the IDECBA report, inflation for August was 1.6%, compared to 2.5% the previous month, and has accumulated 20% so far this year. This is the lowest inflation figure so far this year. The figures that drag down the index are Food and non-alcoholic beverages and Alcoholic beverages.
In the breakdown by group, the "Insurance and Financial Services" division saw a 5.7% increase, the highest of all. It was followed by "Transportation," with a 3% increase, explained by the rise in fuel prices, and "Personal Care, Social Protection, and Other Products," with a 2.3% increase.
Prices in the "Health" category increased by 2.1%, in the "Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels" category by 1.9%, mainly due to rent increases, and in the "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" category by 1.7%.
Below the overall index were "Restaurants and Hotels" (1.2%); "Recreation and Culture" (1.2%); "Information and Communication" (1.2%); "Education" (1.0%); "Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages" (1.0%); and "Home Equipment and Maintenance" (0.9%). Likewise, the "Clothing and Footwear" category fell 0.4%.
