More retirements delayedIn December 2024, 368,065 new registrations for retirement pensions were recorded. "From the analysis of the data, it is clear that the number of early retirements has been considerably reduced and is below 30% of the total (29.6%). There are 108,968, which represents a decrease of 10.4% of early retirements compared to 2019 when 40% of new retirements were early. 70.4% accessed at ordinary age (259,019)," explains the Social Security in the press release.
"In this same period, 9.3% of new entrants were in the delayed retirement category, compared to 4.8% in 2019. There are a total of 34,273 new entrants of this type, while in 2019 there were barely more than 14,000. As a result of the increase in people who voluntarily delay their retirement and the decrease in early retirement, the average age for accessing retirement is 65.2 years, when in 2019 it was 64.4," he stresses. In 2022, new incentives for delaying access to retirement came into force.
