The exchange rate breaks the 19-peso floor today, June 11.

MEXICO CITY.- The exchange rate between the peso and the dollar broke the floor of 19 pesos per greenback this Wednesday.

The Mexican currency is trading at 18.98 pesos per dollar on international markets, an appreciation of 0.43 %, or 8 cents, compared to yesterday's close, according to Bloomberg.

The exchange rate, which had not touched those levels since August of last year, is moving in favor of the peso after the U.S. inflation data was released this morning.

In the United States, consumer prices rose at an annual rate of 2.4% in May, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.

The data is just beginning to reflect the impact of President Donald Trump's tariff policy.
