In line with the massive influx of Argentines crossing into Chile to take advantage of the exchange rate gap, Chilean airline Aerovías DAP—based in Punta Arenas— announced a special flight between Mendoza and Santiago , geared directly toward shopping tourism . The fare, cheaper than that of well-known airlines, includes a 20-kilo baggage allowance.

Aerovías DAP is a Chilean airline based in the Magallanes Region and anchored at Presidente Carlos Ibáñez del Campo International Airport in Punta Arenas. Since 1980, it has offered charter and scheduled flights between Chilean Patagonian cities and Chilean Antarctica, as well as to some specific and occasional destinations.

The return is scheduled for Sunday, June 1st at 2:00 p.m. , ideal for those looking for a weekend of shopping in the Chilean capital and exploring malls, outlets and stores.

A special flying experience: flying on one of the last BAe 146s

In addition to the competitive price, DAP's Mendoza-Santiago flight promises a special experience for aviation enthusiasts: the journey will be made on a BAe 146, known as the "Jumbolino," a four-engine model rarely seen in the region and beloved among enthusiasts for its compact design and four jet engines.

The aircraft, built by British Aerospace, performs short takeoffs and landings, allowing it to take off from very short runways, dirt strips, or ice runways. It has capacity for 90 passengers and onboard service.
