Tobacco Institute to participate in Agri-Food Fair

The Tobacco Institute of the Dominican Republic ( Intabaco ) and 15 tobacco companies will participate in the 2025 Agri-Food Fair , which will be held from Wednesday, May 28 to Saturday, May 31 at the Dominican Fiesta Hotel in the National District.
Iván Hernández Guzmán, director of Intabaco , considered that the participation of the tobacco sector in this fair represents a great opportunity, since it is the largest international meeting of food, tobacco and beverages in the Dominican Republic organized by the Center for Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic ( ProDominicana ) and the Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD).
Hernández Guzmán highlighted that a Tobacco and Rum lounge has been opened where premium Dominican cigars from the following companies will be displayed:
- Natura Cigars, Don Bartolo Cigars, Abam Cigars, WB Tabacco Cigar Leaf, Tabacalera Esencia, Raffaello Cigars, Potros Cigars, Congresman Cigars, René Cigars, Marvany Cigars, Dijori Comercial, Tabaco Sam, Boutique Caoba, RBJ Cigars and Tabacodom will be participating at the Intabaco stand.
He indicated that attendees will also have access to conferences, workshops, and technical seminars, and companies will be able to participate in business roundtables organized by ProDominicana , with more than 145 international buyers from 31 markets.
The director of Intabaco recalled that Dominican tobacco exports will reach $1.34 billion in 2024, representing more than 41% of the total exported by the national agricultural sector, which was $3.275 billion, according to data from ProDominicana .
Biviana Riveiro, director of ProDominicana , and Osmar Benítez, president of JAD, explained during a visit to Intabaco that the event will feature more than 200 exhibitors and that the goal is to increase agricultural exports to more than $5 billion annually within a period of no more than five years.
At the end of the meeting, Hernández Guzmán emphasized that the tobacco industry is also the main source of employment in the Dominican Republic's free trade zones .
