Where to eat pizza and pasta? At this Italian osteria, everything is cooked in front of you.

Where to eat pizza and pasta? At this Italian osteria, everything is cooked in front of you.

In the Juárez neighborhood, Matti Osteria offers a unique experience: it has no secrets. Its open kitchen allows diners to see—and almost touch—everything that happens. From how the pasta is cut by hand to how the pizza dough is rolled out before entering the oven , all in a warm and precise atmosphere. The idea is clear: flavor also enters through the eyes.

Truffle pizza, and other truths

Yes, truffles have been a star on many tables lately, but at Matti's, their use is justified. Truffle pizza is one of those dishes that lives up to its reputation: subtle aromas, a perfect blend of cheeses, crispy crust, and the balance that many seek but few achieve. Excellent technique. And when it comes to heartiness, Matti's shrimp —juicy, with crispy skin and bathed in a charred jerk sauce with a smoky and spicy base—have become one of the most requested dishes, and rightly so.

Matti is not a traditional Italian restaurant. It's a contemporary osteria that respects its origins but dares to reinterpret them. The menu—designed by chef Hugo Ramos —develops classic recipes and moves them toward a more open-minded approach to cooking. Examples include the cheek and tail pappardelle, braised for eight hours, and the spaghetti vongole with white clams, Eureka lemon, and white wine.

Bar, fire and community

The experience at Matti is completed by a large central bar from which all the cocktails, wines, and drinks are served. This is where the journey begins with a Disaronno Spritz, a perfect pairing for appetizers like the Caprese salad or mozzarella in carrozza. Then come the pizzas, pastas, and, to top it off, a berry pavlova or classic cannolis that complete the trip.

Special Truffle Pizza

Matti Osteria also focuses on experiences beyond traditional service. Events like "Pizzaiolo for a Day" and interactive pasta-making stations allow diners to get involved, touch, smell, learn, and understand everything that goes into the making of the dish.

Matti Osteria is located at Londres 49, Colonia Juárez , Mexico City. Reservations can be made at mattiosteria.com and updates can be followed on Instagram @matti_osteria.

Because if you're wondering where to get pizza, the answer lies in an open, vibrant, and profoundly Italian kitchen. And yes, it's on Juárez Street.
