FDA approves gardenia-based blue dye for use in foods and beverages

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a natural blue food coloring made from gardenia.
The additive, called gardenia blue, can now be used in foods such as sports drinks, flavored waters, fruit drinks, teas, and hard and soft candies, the FDA announced on July 14.
