Watch Rumi Carter Steal the Show Singing With Beyoncé on the Cowboy Carter Tour

Watch Rumi Carter Steal the Show Singing With Beyoncé on the Cowboy Carter Tour
preview for "Everything is Love" for Beyoncé and Jay-Z

Rumi Carter is becoming more and more confident as she continues to join her mother, Beyoncé, on the Cowboy Carter Tour.

In new footage from the tour’s fifth night in L.A., the 7-year-old sings with her mom during her song “Protector,” hugs her, smiles, and waves at the crowd. Rumi’s older sister, 13-year-old Blue Ivy Carter, looks down proudly at her in the sweet family moment:

Rumi’s grandmother Tina Knowles revealed last week that Rumi is “taking notes” from Blue as the two sisters perform onstage, calling it “big sis energy in training.”

“The way she watches Blue and mirrors her every move…you can tell she’s taking notes,” Knowles wrote. “She doesn’t just want to join the legacy…she wants to SLAY it too! Rumi said on last tour that she was ready to hit the stage. She learned choreography and was ready. I’m so happy to see her onstage with her mommy and her sister...she really did [strut] out there. One day she’s gonna cut loose and walk down the runway one day you watch!! Rumi❤️❤️ is also a great songwriter already! She will be a forced to be reckoned with just wait!❤️❤️”

Rumi has been exposed to her mother’s tour prep throughout her life. In September, Beyoncé told GQ that she plans her concerts around her children’s schedules. “My kids come with me everywhere I go,” she said. “They come to my office after school, and they are in the studio with me. They are in dance rehearsals. It’s natural that they would learn my choreography.”

She spoke adoringly about Blue, and twins Rumi and Sir, while acknowledging the challenges of parenting. “Raising three kids isn’t easy,” Beyoncé said. “The older they get, the more they become their own individuals with unique needs, hobbies, and social lives. My twins are God-sent. Parenting constantly teaches you about yourself. It takes a lot of prayer and patience. I love it. It’s grounding and fulfilling.”
