Abinader and Leonel meet to discuss the crisis in Haiti

At around 11:06 a.m. this Thursday, President Luis Abinader arrived at the headquarters of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development ( Funglode ) to meet with former President Leonel Fernández.
At the meeting, the leaders will discuss irregular Haitian migration to the Dominican Republic, as previously announced by the Presidency in a press release.
This visit comes as the Economic and Social Council ( CES ) has set up six thematic roundtables, with representatives from the head of state and former presidents Hipólito Mejía, Leonel Fernández, and Danilo Medina, to analyze the impact of the Haitian crisis on the country.
These meetings respond to the worsening crisis in the neighboring nation and the limited results of the Kenyan-led Multinational Mission in that territory.
As part of these meetings, on June 26, Abinader visited the National House of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) to discuss the situation with former President Danilo Medina.
The CES is expected to conclude the thematic roundtable meetings on July 23 and present a final report.
