Amid tensions with Iran and internal short circuits, Javier Milei will appear at the AMIA event.

President Javier Milei confirmed that he will participate in the event commemorating the 31st anniversary of the AMIA bombing this Friday, amid tensions with Iran and internal disagreements with Vice President Victoria Villarruel . The event will feature a special security operation and stricter security measures than in previous years.
According to sources from the Ministry of Security, headed by Patricia Bullrich , more federal units will be deployed than at other public events. The presence of undercover agents among attendees is also being considered, as part of a preventive plan focused on protecting the president.
The Military Household is coordinating the operation with federal forces. Fences, metal detectors, and a security ring are planned to restrict direct access to the AMIA headquarters. Concern for Milei's safety increased after the president called Iran an "enemy" and expressed his unconditional support for Israel.
Tensions escalated this Thursday when the Iranian embassy in the United Kingdom issued a statement against Argentina. They accused the government of supporting Israel's acts of aggression and condemned Iran's defensive actions. The statements added to a climate of conflict that has persisted for weeks.
One of the factors that worsened the ties between the two countries was the Argentine court's approval of the trial in absentia of ten Iranian and Lebanese citizens suspected of involvement in planning the 1994 attack. Iran considered the decision "illegal" and contrary to international law.
The president's entourage supported the measure. Javier Milei responded to a message from his official , Juan Pablo Carreira , who wrote: "The scumbags who planned the attack in Argentina from the comfort of their offices in Iran and murdered 85 Argentinians will be able to be convicted in absentia."
As of Tuesday, Victoria Villarruel had not confirmed whether she would participate in the tribute. The vice president is at the center of an internal dispute with sectors of the La Libertad Avanza party , after presiding over a Senate session where measures the ruling party had tried to block, such as the pension increase and the disability emergency, were voted on.
The ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the AMIA attack will be Milei's first as president, at a time when his figure is attracting attention both for his international influence and for the conflicts within his political sphere. The ceremony will be marked by security, politics, and memory.
