Bannon calls for Musk's deportation as he opens up to a truce with Trump

Bannon calls for Musk's deportation as he opens up to a truce with Trump

The world's richest man backs down on his threat to dismantle the Dragon spacecraft and admits to Bill Ackman that the best thing for the country would be for the two to make peace.

Far-right leader Steve Bannon , one of US President Donald Trump 's main allies, has asked him to investigate the immigration status of billionaire Elon Musk and advocates for his "immediate" deportation .

"They should launch a formal investigation into his immigration status, because I firmly believe he is an illegal immigrant and should be deported from the country immediately," Bannon said in remarks reported by US media amid the open conflict between Musk and Trump.

Bannon, who was an advisor to Trump during his first term (2017-2021), has also called for the confiscation of the SpaceX company , of which Musk, a South African, Canadian and American national, is CEO.

"When Musk threatens to pull the plug on one of SpaceX's big (space) programs, what Trump should do immediately is sign an executive order requiring the Defense Production Act to be applied to SpaceX and confiscate SpaceX," he added on his War Room podcast.

In response to these statements, Musk called Bannon a "retarded communist."

In his open war, Trump threatened to cut off government contracts with Musk's empire, and the businessman opted to "dismantle" the Dragon space capsules , which the United States depends on to send supplies and astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS).

However, the world's richest man was quick to withdraw this threat. "Good advice. Okay, we won't be dismantling Dragon," he responded to a user on his social media platform X, who suggested both Trump and Musk take a "step back for a couple of days."

Several mutual allies of the president and the tech mogul have publicly urged the two to make peace. One of them has been Bill Ackman , CEO of Pershing Square.

"I support that @realDonaldTrump and @elonmusk should make peace for the good of our great country . Together we are stronger than apart," he argued on X.

"You're not wrong," Musk replied.
