Congress revoked Marisa Graham's continued appointment as Children's Advocate.

The Bicameral Commission of Congress decided to terminate Marisa Graham 's term as head of the Children's Ombudsman's Office , after overwhelmingly rejecting a resolution proposing to extend her term. The decision also affected her deputy, Juan Facundo Hernández. The process to select new officials will begin on June 16, through a public competition based on background and competitive examination.
The meeting was chaired by Radical Party representative Natalia Sarapura , who heads the committee. One of the central points of discussion was the discussion of Resolution 0001/2025, issued in January, which modified the internal regulations to allow for the extension of mandates. The majority of legislators voted against this initiative.

During the meeting, various opposition sectors questioned Graham's continued presence. "We at La Libertad Avanza will reject the resolution. We find it serious that the Ombudsman extends her term on her own," said Representative Nadia Márquez . She added, "We are not removing her; her term has ended, and she continues to hold the position illegally."
Representative Nicolás Mayoraz went further, arguing that "this attitude borders on the crime of sedition." He said Graham "illegally holds a position to which she was elected for a defined term." He emphasized that endorsing this situation "would be grave for Congress."
PRO representative María Sotolano also spoke, stating that "ethically, it is not appropriate for Graham to remain in his position." She added that, in practice, "the Ombudsman's Office is headless." Senators Vilma Facunda Bedia and Andrea Marcela Cristina agreed with this position.
The Union for the Homeland party , on the other hand, supported Graham's continuation until a new authority is appointed. "He tried to preserve the institutional framework that Congress failed to guarantee," they stated. Senator Daniel Bensusán warned that leaving the organization without leadership "is completely irresponsible."
The debate exposed political differences over the validity of the resolution authorizing the extension and the limits of the official's term. Without agreement, the Bicameral Assembly adjourned until next Tuesday, when it must decide who will temporarily assume leadership of the body.
In parallel, the appointment of the commission's authorities was completed: Senator Daniel Bensusán from La Pampa was named vice president and Representative María Sotolano , secretary.
During her tenure at the Children's Ombudsman's Office, Marisa Graham played an active role during the pandemic, at a critical time when the return of children to in-person classes was being debated. Her role sparked debates that are now resurfacing, now that her departure has been made official.
