Cristina Kirchner's prison: The government wants the former president to be notified at home so there won't be a march.

Cristina Kirchner's prison: The government wants the former president to be notified at home so there won't be a march.

The government and the leaders advising Cristina Kirchner agree on a sensitive point. Both sides want the former president to serve house arrest and be served at her home without having to go through the Comodoro Py courts. This would help the executive branch defuse a potential conflict with a massive march in front of the courthouse. Kirchnerism wants to ensure its leader serves his sentence in his home and avoid the images they want to avoid at all costs . The judge has the final say. The former president's inner circle affirms that there will be a massive mobilization no matter what happens.

" The possibility of taking his details at home is being considered, but no more than that. For now, he's going to Comodoro Py. The decision is a judicial one ," the government says. The courts haven't ruled it out, but the decision hasn't been finalized . Beyond the institutional contact, all parties deny any formal or informal conversation or interference in that regard.

The government wants to avoid explicit suggestions that could be interpreted in this way. They point to the internal conflicts and even the vanities that plague judges and prosecutors, especially those in the Federal Oral Court. The Ministry of Security, which is also in charge of the penitentiary service, celebrated the fact that Judge Jorge Gorini of the Second Federal Oral Court, who must decide on CFK's imprisonment, suspended the leave of absence she had requested to travel . "Luckily, she stayed. It was crazy. It would be quite reasonable for her not to go to Py and we wouldn't have to endure a mobilization ," high-ranking sources in the Mileí administration stated.

Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos explained the government's position on the future of the former president's six-year prison sentence. " For many reasons, it would be appropriate to grant her the benefit of house arrest ," the coordinating minister said in an interview with Radio Con Vos.

The Casa Rosada and the Ministry of Security share the same opinion. " There's no reason not to give it to her. She's 70 years old, a former president. What's she going to do? Is she going to escape ?" they reason.

This isn't the only certainty Patricia Bullrich would like to have, as head of the federal security forces and the prison service, who canceled a trip to Washington to monitor the operations. In addition to Cristina's, she is also concerned with the notifications of the other eight convicted individuals, among whom Lázaro Báez stands out. Four of them, former Secretary of Public Works José López, former head of Highways Nelson Periotti, and former Santa Cruz Highways official Raúl Pavesi, have requested—like Cristina—to serve their sentences at home.

The Minister of Security is awaiting resolutions on the conditions of the possible house arrest in the apartment where CFK lives on San José Street. Bullrich intends to have regulations to regulate surveillance immediately and for the coming years .

The government is not only concerned about the challenge of ensuring security in an unwelcome location, given the number of residents, coupled with the former president's overexposure, who constantly appears on the balcony to greet her supporters. There is also concern about the consequences of deploying federal forces against the mobilized militants . "It's terrible for security," the government maintains, referring to the semi-apartment in the Montserrat neighborhood where the former president lives. Those close to the former president are not considering any other alternative for her house arrest.

Although she chose to appear on Wednesday, Cristina has until Thursday morning to attend the Retiro courts. " She could make a surprise appearance and leave everyone in the lurch, as she has done on other occasions, but that doesn't seem to be what's going to happen, " the Executive branch explains.

Closely trusted collaborators of the President's so-called iron triangle, comprised of Karina Milei and Santiago Caputo, emphasize that the government will not formally comment on a decision by the judiciary. However, like Francos, they have made their personal position known. "We want the mess to be as small as possible and for the courts to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Until it resolves, the government must continue to guarantee social peace ," they affirm.

The cuts in various access routes to the Capital since the Supreme Court ruling was announced threaten to become a problem and an open challenge to one of the policies the Government defends as a milestone: the anti-picket protocol .

“On the other side are those who claim to defend workers, but ruin their lives by blocking streets to defend a woman convicted of corruption. In the face of chaos, we respond with order. All highways are free ,” the minister wrote on X on Thursday.

Some in the Executive branch doubt that the federal forces' strength is sufficient to protect so many permanent hot spots. They assume that the Province and the City will not be as active in collaborating with the Government .

Those close to Bullrich downplay these stories. They believe tensions with the City have been resolved since the inauguration of Security Minister Horacio Giménez, who will participate in the unified command planned for Wednesday's march . Axel Kicillof 's administration—once again under constant friendly fire from La Cámpora— collaborated on specific issues , such as arranging for the national team to arrive from the AFA's facilities in Ezeiza to River Plate's stadium on the same Tuesday that the Court upheld the sentence.

The government is unclear about the impact of a possible notification to CFK at her home, and whether it would be enough to prevent the demonstration at Comodoro Py. Peronism remains vigilant to avoid the worst-case scenario, and the leadership of La Cámpora guarantees that there will be a march no matter what.

After meeting with mayors at the PJ Council , the Peronist and CGT governors will speak on Monday and Tuesday. The union's top leaders have already made it known that they will not call a strike to accompany the mobilization , despite Sergio Palazzo of La Bancaria and Pablo Moyano of Camioneros—who met with Cristina at her home on Friday—requesting a "work stoppage."

" We don't operate on rumors. Therefore, we are organizing a massive caravan to accompany Cristina ," they affirm at the former president's inner circle.
