Judicial electoral process concludes in Quintana Roo with delivery of certificates

The Electoral Institute of Quintana Roo (IEQROO) concluded this June 12th the official counts of the first judicial electoral process, in which citizens elected by direct vote the magistrates of the Superior Court of Justice, the Judicial Disciplinary Court, as well as judges of the Judicial Branch of the state.
During the permanent session held this Thursday, the majority certificates were presented to the 117 candidates elected to one of the positions in the Judicial Branch of Quintana Roo.
IEQROO President, Rubí Pacheco, emphasized that the success of this electoral process was not exclusive to the central offices, but also to the members of the municipal councils, trainers, electoral assistants, supervisors, as well as the citizens who went to the polling stations on June 1st.
"This was an unprecedented, innovative, and challenging process that was successfully completed thanks to the experience and commitment of this institute's staff. To everyone involved in this process, from those who organized and handled every logistical detail to those who turned out to vote, I offer my deepest gratitude. May you feel proud and recognized for this important work," he said.
During her speech, electoral councilor Salomé Medina Montaño recalled the historic significance of the event, which has changed the dynamics of electing those who will ensure the administration of justice in Quintana Roo.
"Today, for the first time in the constitutional history of Mexico and our state, the men and women who will administer justice were elected through the free, informed, and direct vote of the citizens. This event marks a turning point in the consolidation of a more democratic and participatory state," he said.
He recalled that the democratic legitimacy that now accrues to judges and magistrates also implies greater responsibility, and therefore urged the elected candidates to carry out their duties with responsibility and objectivity.
“It's not enough to have been elected by popular vote. It's essential that every ruling, every decision, and every action be guided by ethics, knowledge, and a commitment to the truth. The people don't expect favoritism; they expect justice,” he said.
For his part, Electoral Councilor Adrián Sauri Manzanilla also offered a message of recognition to all those who made the process possible, highlighting the professionalism of the electoral staff and the participation of the public.
"This collective effort demonstrates that democracy is built day by day. Thank you to everyone who provided certainty and legality to such a complex process."
He also recalled that nine judges were elected to the Superior Court of Justice, three to the Judicial Disciplinary Tribunal, and 105 judges, whose terms begin on September 1.
"Those elected now have the enormous responsibility to deliver justice with impartiality and integrity. May this process be an inspiration to continue building a more just and democratic state."
